Stories
- Bro SF has had a LOT of animals in his life! he told us the story of how his dad caught like, a bunch of bats that they kept in a cage, skunks, mini goats that decided to.... populate. he has had a lot of cool animals. right now he has a cat named stinker, and he's so funny. even tho he scratches my arm and brings in dead birds and mice. but hey, that's cats for ya!
- this one lady we went and did service for had 6 dogs!!!!! it was so great. i was in heaven i even remember all their names
in order from least to most unique, we have sam, bob, brody, sprout, mooshoo, and my personal favorite, mr. pickles!!!! i love dogs.
- we were asked to help our friends get the baptismal font ready for their 8 year old daughter who was being baptized on saturday! so i had to keep going and checking the water about every 5-10 minutes, and i had no socks or shoes on when we had our friend J (no nickname yet) over to teach her! it was a fun time, and at one point i realized i had left my scriptures in the car so i walked through the snow barefoot to go get em cuz i didnt feel like putting my shoes and socks back on. hehe
- so, our friends the Hiya's are awesome. we were making banana bread on Saturday, and realized that we had way too much batter for our one bread pan. we had wanted to visit the Hiya's anyways tho, and thought what better way than to ask them for some help! (fun lil fact, people like you a lot when they're able to help you :)) we went over, and according to the baking instructions i got on the back of the flour bag i used for the banana bread recipe, we started baking them! and overdid em... a bit. but had a great convo! rest will be in the teaching stuff :)
- we have had a lot of amazing meetings, devotionals, and trainings recently. i shoulda brought my notes, but here's a cool thing i learned about faith! i love my mission president and how he teaches us.
elements of Faith:
1. trust
2. knowledge
3. failure and discouragement
4. understanding - to a degree
5. recognition and reflection
i love this! we've also talked about more missionary stuff but i thought this would apply most to y'all:)
Teaching Updates
- now HERE'S where the juice is!
- the fly fisherman. emphasis on the fly;) we had him passed off to us by the fantastic spring creek sisters! he's so great. he has such a great desire, and wants to meet every day to prepare better! he has had a rough life, and has some struggles. we love him tho:)
- so, mama bear and the sniper are not doing too good right now. they have covid, and they also... don't really want to read the Book of Mormon at the moment. they still love us tho! prayers for them!
- J&N called and dropped us. which was sad. but hey, God has a plan, right? we do what we can:)
- we also dropped hatchet. he just hasn't progressed the way we would like him to. he's very friendly to us, but it isn't his time either.
- 7 day advent calendar has been dropped. i honestly don't even want to keep trying with her, with the way she doesn't realize she treats us and the church. but hey, like i said, we do what we can. and i won't ever give up.
- the anime's! inactive family we're working with. we were so set for them to come to church, but alas, they did not. even tho we planned to show up at their house that morning. but they thing they have covid, so whatchu gonna do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ that excuse can't last forever
- Kho and Co have co(vid) (hehe) big sad. so nothing new on them this week, rip
- picked up Deb-bruh! she has a lot of health problems, but really really really wants to grow her faith. super excited to keep working with her!!
- our friend J with the snow feet baptismal font story. she does not want to convert at all, but loves coming to church and wants to learn everything about our church. we haven't picked her up officially of course, because she doesn't want to convert, but we'll take what we can get i guess??
Spotlight
- Elder Canales! possibly his last p-day here. big sad. we bowled good tho:)
- da LP boiz. i love you all
My challenges for you
- share something uplifting on social media!! it's what it can be used best for. forget all the dumb attention grabbing crap. spread goodness:)))
Every minute, every moment...there was Jesus.
hymn #270 "i'll go where you want me to go"
first off, go read it. right now. then come back.
the line "i'll be what you want me to be'' hits me the hardest. it is so incredibly hard to say "thy will be done", when we want so much more. i truly understand that by saying that, turning it over to God and trusting Him, is what humility really is. being willing enough to let Him control when honestly i THINK i know what's best. spoiler alert, i don't, and nobody really does
Turn it over to Him. i'm sorry i always make my EMEMTWJ a challenge when i already have one, but hey, it's hard not to. all testimonies should contain an invitation to act.
~love elder koby, who does NOT have a leopard gecko
