#13 If God got us, we gon' be alright
Dia duit daoine!
(Yes I'm gonna start numbering my emails cuz why not)
Between you and me, I really wanna drive a fire truck. And on that topic, I see a LOT of firetrucks drive by our apartment. Is there a fire every day near us? Lots of action around here, as you can see.
Everyone here needs to read on Wilford Woodruff. Especially if you're a missionary. Guy is a spiritual giant, and has an insanely crazy life. Usually I don't read these types of things, but I would 100% recommend it.
So, the most interesting person I talked to this week is named John. There's a bit of confusion on what his last name was, (it was Italian tho which is cool), he served in Vietnam, is very old, and couldn't speak well. Although if you got him talking about his ex-wives or his time "goofing off" in Nam, (his words not mine), then yeah he would talk a lot. Still couldn't understand him very well tho.
One thing he did say a lot was how cool and nice we were, and even tho he was "going to hell" and had no interest in Jesus. Nevertheless, fun guy, super funny convo, man it was a good time.
If you want a good laugh, listen to this one. So we have this pull-up bar in our apartment, and I wanted to try to do those upside down crunches? The ones where you stick your feet in and curl up your body, if you know what I'm talking about. How mistaken I was. Even tho I got my feet in and did a few, let's just say I was very very stuck and had to yell for Elder Jensen (who was conveniently in the other room at the moment), to come save my now very red face as I hung upside down.
Best case, so much service this week. Elder Jensen and I went back to the horse place again, (this time with homemade horse treats
(the horses literally followed me around everywhere it was like I was a celebrity)), helped a member in our ward stock computer carts, helped a nonmember with his yard, and disposed of a dishwasher, (which is actually where we met John, right next to the dumpster we yeeted it into
). Service is the best. The most fun I've had so far on my mission is serving others, whether that's through pulling weeds, doing home demo in their basement, or shoveling horse maneur, ah man its just the best. Please do service wherever you are! Even if you're not a missionary, I would 100% recommend it. Receiving the joy and spirit of the Holy Ghost comes from it so fully (Mosiah2:17 ;))
So, to close, since this email is already very long, we had an awesome lesson and picked this one guy up we've been trying to for a bit. On the way there, we couldn't find Elder Jensen's TIWI card (what you use to sign in to the mission vehicles so they can make sure you aren't breaking any road laws) so I got to use mine and drove for the first time in 3 months, twas very weird!
Never give up. Everyone will have their time. Viscosity is still my favorite word. Everything is awesome -The Lego Movie. Remember always, to stay fresh cheese bags.
