hitting a fence, getting our car broken into, and.....THEMISK. #51

Γεια σας άνθρωποι! welcome back to the semi-half-monthly email of kobaba, who resides in montrose! the place where they plow the streets with literal tractors and bulldozers. it does not work. hence the hitting fence part of this email... heh

☆ transfers! and some rushed service right before. said goodbye to my son, Elder Bales:( but said hello to someone i already know and love much! Elder Miskin!! and many other friends:)

☆ some pretty lit teaching updates:) WHAT DID I TELL YOU

🌈Stories🤌

- so, my dearest son Elder Bales and I got transfer news. we unfortunately had to part ways, but my new companion is.... *drumroll please* badadadbabdabdbadbabdbadbadbabdbadbadbabdbadbabdabdbabdbdbadbabdbadda                                                  ELDER MISKIN!! if you don't remember from my previous emails, (long time ago), Elder Miskin and i were in the same district when i was in fruita. been on 3 exchanges so far, so we already homies! i'll miss my prodigal son, but i do love the misk.

- it snowed a TON, so i got to shovel for about almost 3 hours. did you know that unicorns exist? but they are NOT like we conventionally think they are. supposedly, they have a body more like a deer, a tuft on their tail, and smell REAL bad. also quite mean from what i've heard. but above all, they are NOT rainbow. this one lady would fight you if you said that. oh, the people you meet doing service. i love it *&^

- so.... the negative side of a lot of snow. ice. you know how at the beginning of this email i talked about how the "plows" they have don't work very well? well, yeah... i slipped on straight ice in the car. but, instead of hitting the big truck with the hitch in front of us and causing way too much damage than i can pay for, i expertly drifted off onto the sidewalk and into a chain link fence. but fr, God was looking out for me. i very much so appreciate my reflexes, because we have very very minimal damage on our car, and the fence wasn't damaged at all. the owners literally didn't even care hah. so, heck yeah.

- when we were shoveling snow, our members who called us over snuck some cookies into our car i had forgotten to lock. it's weird, cuz i always remember to lock the car haha! so, no actual break in. just thin mint girl scout cookies:))) they were sneaky tho!!! the man has got arthritis in his feet, and did it without us even noticing. love them to pieces tho

- just... met a dog named chewbacca. that is all. yup.

- did some more service for the hoarder ladies! helped the one move out some more:) (btw, i do NOT use that term in a derogatory way. they are very kind, and all self aware. we love em!) we helped with the top part of the garage, which was filled with more empty boxes than we could fathom. wii, shoe, kitchen knife, curtain rod, you name it, she had it! although it was her late husband who liked the boxes. anyway, the floor was still pretty cluttered, so the ladder only reached so far. even Elder Bales' long monkey arms couldn't reach up there. so i got on the ladder, and started swinging around on the rafters of the ceiling with a curtain rod whacking boxes to the ground. i'll give you a moment to imagine that fun scene:)

alright, moment over. mom, just so you know, it wasn't that far up. i could drop to the ground and be fine:) we were safe! it was just tricky to navigate hehe

- Elder Bales thought good ol' Joe Smith was a ginger. yes, i'm flaming him publicly on here for it. to be fair, he did see one portrait where it did look to be that way. so no disrespect. except a bunch of disrespect

- transfers were fun! we usually have them on Thursdays, but it snowed so much that we had to postpone it until saturday. but, on saturday, Elder Bales and i had scheduled some service. so, as SOON as it hit 10, we skrrted out and helped someone move for 45 mins, skrrted home and got changed, and yeeted over to grand junction, an hour and a half away for transfers. only to find out.... the transfer bus was gonna be late. so, we got to go to chick fil a! best case. picked up the misk, and yeeted home. saw many a homie as well! i'll have plenty of pictures and shoutouts in my picture email:)

- also had a member gush about his love life to us. he's 60 something, but has them ladies after him. no cap. he showed us the messages. man's got game.

♥️Teaching Updates♥️

 - i keep my promises 😌😌 this one's pretty full!

- mainly with our new friend! uhhhh don't have a nickname for him yet. we'll just call him rascal:) our friend rascal is now on date to be baptized on may 7th! He's this awesome 12 year old kid who loves reading scriptures! we're super grateful for him, and his desire:) homie's got like 3 sets of the Book of Mormon already! heck yeah!

- another new friend, walmart. he was talked to by a brand new senior couple that just arrived, (gotta love that greenie fire!), and he wanted to read a Book of Mormon! he gave his address and his phone number out, so he's gotta be somewhat interested, right? hasn't responded yet, so we'll see!

- Berry just had her first granddaughter be born!! she was absent for church and most of last week, but, she was in oklahoma so we'll cut her some slack:) she let us know so we wouldn't freak out, as us missionaries so often do, doncha know

- so much service recently! we kinda discerned that the lady we were doing service for wasn't interested, but, we asked if she knew anyone that was! and she said she definitely knew one person, and would try to think up more! who knew, if you simply just did service for people they would like you? of course, we did service to do service. we only asked her because she's our good friend by now:)

- other peeps: Kho and Co were sick, so no dope iron rod lesson. red robin is sorta half ghosting us.  deb bruh is still many health problems, big sad. but, alas, we carry on!

🔥My challenges for you🔥

so, do you remember last email when i said "you need to be as specific as possible, and here's why!" and than never said anything afterwards?? heh... oops! i goofed, wasn't supposed to put that one in there last week.

HERE'S why you need to be as specific as possible!

so, during my spanish area exchange the other week, we were at a members house who had a son who hadn't been baptized. although, he was around his mid 20's! oh man, i was so excited. i had my little translated testimony ready, i was going to read it to them in spanish, it was going to be so good. Then, a few minutes before the lesson i did not understand a single word of what was going to on, when i would have borne my testimony, this guy gets a phone call and walks out of the room. man, i was so let down. i truly was so excited to share my testimony with him! it was very bold, clear, and to the point. went a little something like this:

"no se mucho español.  pero lo que si se, es que esto es lo mas importante.  este evangelio restaurado de Jesucristo puede y los bendecirá por la eternidad.  lo he sentido y visto en mi propia vida y en la vida de muchos otros.  lo que se está enseñando aquí, es la verdad.  en el nombre de Jesucristo, es la verdad.  en el nombre de Jesucristo amén."

go ahead and translate that if you really wanna know what it says haha, but that's my pure testimony of Jesus Christ and this gospel!                                                               anyway, he walks out of the room just a few minutes before i would have said that. so, i did what any missionary would have done. i prayed! VERY. specifically. thats when the clock hit 6:45, (it was prolly around 6:42 or 6:43), that his friend would say on the phone: "i gotta go real quick, i'll call you in 15-20 minutes". and that he would come back out of the room that he went into! (thank GOODNESS God can translate for me cause i didn't want to have to ask his friend to say it in spanish). well, lo and behold, he did!! at 6:45, i heard him wrap up the call and he walked out of the room! ....directly out of the one we were in and into another one. DANGIT. shoulda been more specific i guess! i prayer again, apologized to God, and asked that he would come sit in the chair right in front of me to hear the testimony i had prepared. he then did! it was great.

and that, ladies and gentlemen, elders, sisters, hermanas, sorelle, anziani, and all the other languages, is why you need to be... oh so very specific. it's also kinda cool that you can tho! so, in short,

challenge:

pray very specifically!! only catch is... it does have to be God's will as well;)

⚓Every minute, every moment...there was Jesus.⚓

clasped in the Arms of Jesus. i just absolutely love the visuals of this. He loves us so much he CLASPS us in his arms. and He NEVER wants to let go, i can tell you that much at least! Love others. speak kindly. the most important thing in this world is Love. i will say that OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. because it is so infinitely true.

"Like the sunbeams of morn on the
mountains,
The soul they awake to good cheer;
Like the murmur of cool, pleasant fountains,
They fall in sweet cadences near.
Let’s oft, then, in kindly toned voices,
Our mutual friendship renew,
Till heart meets with heart and rejoices
In friendship that ever is true.

Oh, the kind words we give shall in memory live
And sunshine forever impart.
Let us oft speak kind words to each other;
Kind words are sweet tones of the heart."

and to end with an amazing quote i loved!!

"Life happens to me.
Life happens for me.
Life happens through me.

Look to God and live."

welp, we'll see y'all next week!

as always, mucho love 🤟♥️
