Kooking with Koby: Missionary meal highlights

- elk steak
- french toast
- fudge
- chicken bacon ranch fettuccine
- idk prolly a sandwich or something
- no bake cookies for the zone!
Stories
- alright alright alright! so, first off, had a pretty epic christmas devo. white elephant gift exchange, (thanks for the signed baby pictures Elder Ward ;))), and our mission president almost got an mnm bag full of beans. rip brother seals, who did end up with it and didn't realize. also, a little while ago, our mission president said if a member offered us cherry pie, to take it but to make sure and send him a piece! so that's exactly what i did. pics included, he LOVED it hahaha
- so...... me and Elder Bales decided to get Elder Kartchner and Elder Graham something from walmart to be nice...... then decided to be, not so nice. (sorry Santa, i know i'll be getting some coal in my stocking for this!) we found some dog treat cookies, which looked EXACTLY like chips ahoy. so...... we bought some other cookies too. they were out of chips ahoy, so we went with the great value brand "classic chippers". probably for the best, cuz they would have tasted pretty off. we switched the cookies, gave them to the elders, and yeah. will have videos on the photos this week for how it all played out. it was so freaking funny.
- so! we went caroling with our youth, rode on a hay trailer and sung our little hearts out! it was freezing, and such a good time. one of the young women i was sitting by asked how i could be so happy and cheerful when it was so cold. i replied, "how could i not be!!! im singing and spreading christmas cheer! serving others!" so yeah. i'm officially a missionary. my smile and singing muscles hurt a bit
- it was Elder Bales birthday on thursday!! everyone say happy birthday Elder Bales :) i made him french toast, hung up some decorations, and got my party blower ready to knock his socks off!
- so, we were driving, and saw a very nice looking chair on the side of the road! so, naturally, us being good obedient missionaries, decided to get to our appointment on time, do everything we needed to, and come back for it later when we had appropriate time during dinner! so we came back, and the chair was still there! success! there was a lady pulling out of the parking lot, so we went ahead a little bit and flipped a u-turn. but... she didn't pull out onto the road. we went and parked by the chair, an this lady gets out of her car, (which is in the exit of a parking lot bt, totally illegal to block it), and sits down on the chair. phat rip. we drive off, and obtain the Big Sad™️. later that night, after our lessons n stuff, we were driving back home, and to be funny i said "hey lets go see if the chair is there". well, it's really close by our apt, so we did, AND IT WAS STILL THERE! and now, ladies and gentlemen, elders and sisters, we have a dope chair. hype success
- so, i had this cool idea for our song for the mission devo to pretend like we were opening then closing a hymnbook at the beginning and end of our song! it was awesome, worked out really well, but then the AP's cut it off right before it "closed" big sad. it was cool and fun anyways tho
- oh man. decided to make my grandmothers fudge the other day! it's a very complicated recipe, but tastes SO. DANG. GOOD. so, me and Elder Bales decided to tackle it. y'all know i dont back down. sp, started out with the two biggest pots we had, both of which turns out were not too big. we had to combine it all into one at the end, both the part we cook and the other part, so we opted to combine it all into the biggest pot for the end. that meant we had to cook the stuff with the smaller pot. (i know this is confusing... just, just bear with me okay?) so, we start cooking it, and its basically already filled to the brim. 4 cups of sugar, a giant bag of marshmallows, and a can of evaporated milk is what we're working with here. i thought since the marshmallows have a lot of air in them, that it would go down. BOY WAS I WRONG! it expanded SO MUCH. we ended up grabbing all the tiny pots we had in the apt to pour this sticky, ever expanding goo into. so it got messy. and then THOSE started to overflow too! we had to cook this stuff for exactly 7 minutes btw, and yeah. oh man. we got it all under control eventually, (i could NOT have done this without Elder Bales. i love this kid), and made some fantastic fudge! it turned out AMAZING!
- had a real funny perfect timing moment this week, went something kinda like this:
*me and Elder Bales walk into the church, having a good time, and notice there's a lot of cars. walk in and here's what proceeds to happen*
'man, hope the relief society room isn't taken' -bales
'yeah, we'll see' -smith
'wouldn't it be funny if we walked into a baptism' -Bales
*we then hear from the relief society room*
'-in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen. *water dunking noise* '
i swear, this couldn't have been more insanely perfect timing. luckily, we didn't disrupt the baptism at all, it was one of our fantastic ward members daughters baptism. it was so great! but i cannot believe the impeccable timing that had to happen for that to play out as perfectly as it did
- set up for a linger longer for our ward, but they didn't want the kids going to the other side of the gym. so we made the "chairricade"! just a long line of chairs to signify the boundaries. it did not work in the slightest.
- Christmas program! we sang in the choir, there were lots of adorable music numbers from chillins as well as fantastic performances from our members. it was an amazing time, and we had so many people there that dont usually come! nobody we're teaching tho, funny enough, (and trust me. we invited EVERYONE we could have. it was sad) but still, an amazing turnout!!
- this one family has some crazy kiddos. they're awesome tho, have some funny pics and vids in the google photos this week of them!
- if any of you saw my first noel video on facebook or instagram, that was my 36th take. yeah.
Teaching Updates
- only 3 updates for here, so sorry :(
- Hackett! or hh. but maybe not. we were invited by our assistants to invite someone to be baptized on Thursday, and we were gonna drop by this formers house that morning and didn't have anyone else we could extend it to, so we decided to do it with him even tho we had never met him before! we went over, got to know him, and invited him! he didn't exactly have an answer, but, we had an awesome conversation afterwards. the only problem was... he went off on at least 4 or 5 tangents for every single point. what was originally gonna be a 15-30 minute lesson.... ended up as four and a half hours. holy crap. we stood up to leave and he still talked to us for an hour and a half after that! it was crazy. lots of good things were talked about, and we picked him up and gave him some awesome commitments, but man. we gotta get out of there VERY quickly next time. so like an hour probably
- Ca! we were planning on dropping her, but had a very good conversation with her the other night! i think we got through moderately well, and i see it going in great places in the future!
- Br&S! such an awesome lesson. we brought up the Word of Wisdom just because it came up in conversation, and she immediately agreed. said that coffee would be hard, but, nevertheless, she is elect! crazy how God works sometimes! her son, S then played christmas hangman with us. best case!
- oh i guess one more, why not! Elder Bales and i have gone off all soda for our friend Bro SF. to help support him in the quitting of his own addictions. man its tricky! but anything is possible through God!

My challenges for you
- “we feel Him in a different way as we pray to help those around us, because that’s one of the prayers that He most wants to answer".
challenge this week is to pray for something you know He WANTS to answer! pray for others :) Light the World!
Every minute, every moment...there was Jesus.
