The Tar Incident #32

салом мардум! welcome back to the semi-half-monthly email of Elder Smith, who is currently sitting in an auto shop waiting for the oil on his car to be changed. i must say, the TV is on and all the commercials and news n stuff... i do not miss it at all. don't ever need to hear about this "kylie jenners" or "miley cyrus" ever again thank you very much. 🌴This week's summary!🌴 (for my TLDR folks) ☆got kissed on the forehead by a horse ☆these two hilarious kids have been many of my email titles, every time we go over to share a message with them i get a new quote. this one twas almost Jesus Had A Spiritual Monkey, but this other story is MUCH funnier ☆i accidentally made tar and set our apt on fire ☆got pranked by some silly string ☆one of the elders in my district almost picked up 32 christian biker gang people ☆white crayon ☆i'm a witch ☆exchanges with Elder Sorhus! ☆oh yeah we have a baptism this week! hopefully i don't get YOINKED from transfers. ☆miracles exist 🥰🥰 ☆have to say goodbye to a trooper 🥺 ☆dug a hole for a butterfly bush! 🌈Stories🤌 - we love our friend L. she has SO many animals, which has been mentioned a few times before. we helped her winterize one of her horses water tubs with a heater so it doesn't freeze, and the horse was extremely friendly and tried to eat my hair. this was also when i was on exchanges with Elder Sorhus, and the horse tried to make out with him MANY times. i will have many funny pictures in the google photos this week, so be sure to check them out before next week when they'll cycle out 🥰 - the email title. ohhhhhhh man. read this one for a good laugh. so as pretty much all of you know, i LOVE to cook. food is the best. one of my favorite things to make is these awesome cookies my grandma figured out how to make out of cake mix! I decided a month or two ago to make some lemon cookies for district council, and figured out how to make lemon glaze for it! the first time i was in a bit of a rush, and the glaze was very runny, made the cookies a bit soggy, but in the end they still tasted really good! well, i decided to try and make some more for our friends the H's. i started making the glaze, and changed some things to try and make it thicker. we don't have brown sugar, so i added a little bit of flour to make it the desired consistency. the four did not seem to want to dissolve at all, so i let it boil for a bit and decided to read my Book of Mormon to try and find an answer to a deep doctrinal question for someone. (that's right hh, im blaming this on you) anyways, whenever i read any book honestly i get SO zoned out from everything. especially with the BOM. i got into it, and then Elder Hassard walks out and is like "uh.... what the heck" and i look up to smoke being EVERYWHERE. Hazzy just starts walking towards the fire alarm because he knew what was going to happen. sure enough, the two that we have start going off. i rush to the stove to see my lemon glaze STRAIGHT black. like yikes. we got all the smoke cleared out, the glaze cooled down, and it was as hard as a rock. couldn't even shank it with a butter knife. it was bad. heated it back up just slightly to clean it out of the pan and throw it away, but i tried to put it in a ziplock bag so i could throw it away easier. i only heated it up a little bit, but it melted straight through that and the trash bag. yikes. i always describe my brain as a DVD screen saver thing bouncing around and hitting all the sides, you know that thing? everytime it hits the corner i have 1 (one) good idea. now was not one of those times, if you cannot tell. - we picked back up the H's this week! (read more about it in teaching updates!) anyway, we went over a few times and the last two we got pranked so hard. the first one was silly string, we got covered. pictures will be included. the second one was it was very late and dark at night, and Sister H was trying to warn us but the kids jumped out and got us good. both them and Brother H are geniuses. they perfectly distracted us with something else each time and got us so good. mad props to them, love that family so much. - one of the fantastic elders in my district started talking to a leader of a huge christian biker gang, and almost set up a time for them all to come to the church parking lot and for our beloved Elder Sorhus to share a message of our church with all of them. let me explain key indicators real quick. there are four numbers, each signify something. 1 - # of people baptized in the past week 2 - # of people on date for baptism in the past week 3 - # of people who came to church in the past week 4 - # of people found in the past week they usually look something like: 0111 we first found this out when we got a call from the elders and they said "how would you feel if our key indicators for this week were 0 1 1 32?" it was so funny. they did not meet this week but they might soon!!! - taught some members this week where every kid was going as a harry potter character, (so first of all, best case), but there was one kid who wasn't. he is, in fact, going as a white crayon. i still cannot stop laughing thinking about the fact that all these kids will be running around on halloween as harry potter characters, and then there will just be a white crayon there too. KILLS me. 😂😂😂 - Sister Shill can read palms, so apparently i have a cross in my hand which means i'm a witch. it's the "witches cross" or whatever. so yeah. yall better watch out for me cursing you, and now not just from dusting off my shoes. - went on exchanges with Elder Sorhus! he's a mad genius with object lessons, and we had a bunch of member meetings that day so it was a fun time! one of the object lessons was a walking by faith and not by sight type thing, and so we cut a hole in a box and put in my glow in the dark silicone monkey in for them to try and figure out what it was. (shoutout Elder Augustus ;)) they could not, but when we pulled it out and asked what they thought it meant, they replied: "Jesus had a spiritual monkey!" so that was almost the email title. previously they have been the email title of "eternal pie", so yeah. always a good time over there with those crazy chillins. love Elder Sorhus too!! - transfers are this week. i've been in this area for a while, so wish me luck!! - other than that, had a zone activity today! it was super fun and i made a giant leaf pile with Sister Shill and Elder Allred to jump in. a good time. - dug a hole for the sistas so they could paint a butterfly bush. not much more to say there. we got pumpkin cinnamon rolls and some cookies in return, definitely worth it. - went to ihop as well for sister bealer's birthday, talked to an awesome older couple, almost shared something but they weren't interested. either way, they were super nice and cool, and very appreciative! open your mouths friends, nothing bad can come from it in the eyes of God! ♥️Teaching Updates♥️ - our friend, M, needed one more sacrament attendance to get baptized. she came to church, and we couldn't be more excited! she's come a while, and we are also the ones who started teaching her! super exciting, it's been awesome seeing how far she has come even tho she's only 9! she's been giving such better answers as opposed to the beginning where she didn't even know who joseph smith was. the Spirit really does work, I'm telling ya! - we started teaching our friends the H's again! we went over and had a spooky dance party cuz one of their kids loves to DJ, played paper football with nerds boxes, and asked if we could share a message sometime soon and they said "well how about right now?" so we did! so great. we love them so much! - G, whatta G. man. just a straight G. we weren't able to meet with him at all this week, tried a few times, but after our one phone call with him last week, he has already prayed to know if our church was true and got an answer of yes!! so wow. pray his schedule gets less stressful! - L has a lot of questions, but is still our best friend. she said her super power would be talking to animals if she had one! i'm thinking telekinesis? idk. there's a lot of cool ones. what would your superpower be? send me a one word response. do it. i DARE you. - D. haven't been able to talk to her at all recently, she hasn't responded to anything. she said she had a very bad problem with alcohol, and our call last week i remember she was very emotional, agreed with everything we said, and yeah. she was most likely drunk thinking back on it. huh. - ESPECIALLY READ THIS ONE>>>>>> so a super cool thing happened to us the other day. we finished our 4th ward sacrament meeting, and these people walked right up to us and asked "hey, do you guys have any appointments available for the missionary discussions?" like,,,,, wow. just walked straight up to us. we set something up, talked to them a little bit and got to know them, the younger girl really liked my yellow tie, and yeah. i honestly never thought i would be seeing these kinds of miracles on my mission based off my first little bit. THIS PART IS NOW FOR ALL MY FELLOW MISSIONARIES: the miracles will follow. don't be discouraged. i didn't see much success my whole first area. i'm now seeing insanely incredible miracles i never thought i would! but the thing is, it's all about the missionary, not the area! keep on keeping on, never stop trusting. keep a positive mindset! faith precedes the miracle!! 😁😁😁 ☀️Spotlight☀️ - got SO many birthdays this week!! - Logan Larsen. man ily buddy! wish i could be there. miss you tons!! - ELDER B-BUBZ. hehe happy birthday. make sure to party it up but not drink any tea cuz ur in london. maybe some biscuits. man im every american the english hate right now, aren't i? - Cameron Ward. i heccin miss u. if you read this MESSAGE ME BACK U NERD. eat some taco bell for me. - Sister Bealer! birthday was yesterday. a heccin good time. anotha shoutout, u should feel lucky. enjoy the cookies! - one of our favorite members are leaving on their senior couple mission this week! pray for their adjustment! - Sister Kaeli Davis. i love ya!! here's the surprise i was talking about ;) - last but not least, Sister Allen. i've been serving with her my last three transfers, and her LAST three transfers. she finished her mission, so she's headed home. she's the best, imma miss her for sure! 🔥My challenges for you🔥 - give everything to Christ. i have given Him all of my pain, anger, frustration, and it literally does not exist anymore. you can give ANYTHING to Him, because He already suffered for EVERYTHING. i have been able to give Him all my bad emotions, all my guilt, all my pain. and He takes it all. and leaves me not feeling that way. it's such a miracle. and you can do it too! have faith it can happen, and pray REAL hard. you can do it! ⚓Every minute, every moment...there was Jesus.⚓ - re-read my challenge. it WILL help. that's my Jesus moment for this week. He will help you out with a miracle. love you all!! 🎵Count your blessings; Name them one by one. Count your blessings; See what God hath done. Count your blessings; Name them one by one. Count your many blessings; See what God hath done.🎵 got some new fun pictures up this week! make sure to go check them out, cuz they'll be gone soon!! 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 https://photos.app.goo.gl/FmjN3Y9ZJcisSKrz9салом мардум
